These practice sessions will introduce you to, and include: the presence-ing of your inquiry; physical training of specific movement sequencing for sound alignment, agility, flexibility and strength; a movement meditation with relational breathing that facilitates access to the intelligence of your body to be your guide; and ends with a guided relaxation and meditation to further deepen the inner connection. Based on the wisdom that the secret of your well-being lies within you, this subtle, yet strengthening practice has the potential to become a personalized resource, applicable, complimentary and beneficial to all methods of physical feats and activities.
The workshop will feature information for coaches especially on applying mental training techniques to elite high school and post collegiate runners. Spino and Mearns have collaborated on many projects in their 30 year friendship from when Spino was coaching at Georgia Tech and Mearns was head of the running division at IMG handling stars like Sebastian Coe, Mary Decker and Bill Rodgers. Workshop explains step-by-step application of mental training techniques from initial concentration and focusing through body image and skill development to championship event rehearsal.

This workshop will provide an experiential experience of the Beyond Jogging workshops that Coach Spino has been teaching for over 40 years. It contains some of the approaches developed by him when he coached Michael Murphy in running at the inception of the Esalen Sport Center. Within the newly launched True Champion: the mind & body online training (www.truechampionllc.com) website there are programs for recreational and elite middle distance runners and it during the workshop and the group will have the opportunity to practice the techniques and imageries, and experientially go through the running practice that gets one out of the rut of jogging into a mind & body full sense experience.
